Blackness in Japan symposium, INHA, Paris

I was invited to participate in the “Blackness in Japan” symposium at the Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA) in Paris. My lecture focused on the work of the Okinawan photographer Mao Ishikawa and her relationship to the African-American soldiers posted in Okinawa through her two series Hot Days in Camp Hansen and Life in Philly.
