T3 Photo Festival Tokyo 2026
Tokyo, October 2026
For its 2026 edition, the T3 Photo Festival Tokyo has chosen the & symbol as its theme: “The ‘&’ symbol opens a new world” exploring how this conjunction is fundamental to the practice of photography.
I have curated a two-person exhibition associating the work of two photographers from the small town of Sakaiminato in Tottori prefecture: the twentieth-century master Shoji Ueda with that of Akemi Mure, for whom he became a mentor towards the end of his life.
Focusing on "childhood" as a shared motif, the two side-by-side exhibitions—Shoji Ueda’s Inner Child and Akemi Mure’s No One Knows What’s Inside the Chrysalis—speak to the virtues of childhood and the complexity of transitioning from this formative stage to the adult world.
