More Than One World: New Japanese Photography 50 Years On
KYOTO: AKAAKA, 2025
I spent much of 2025 working on this collection of essays that looks back at Japanese photography’s place in the global historiography of the medium since the landmark exhibition New Japanese Photography held at MoMA in 1974. Includes contributions by Japanese, Asian, European, and American curators, researchers, and artists. 272 pages, published by Akaaka and T3 Photo Festival Tokyo.
I edited the book and contributed the essay, “The Tip of the Iceberg”, considering the areas of Japanese photography which the MoMA show overlooked.
